Spruce:
Spruce is characterized by its high density, light weight, and fine grain structure. Its acoustic hallmarks include a bright, crisp tone and an exceptionally wide dynamic range; whether played with gentle fingerpicking or vigorous strumming, it maintains excellent clarity and definition. Furthermore, Spruce soundboards possess a unique "opening up" quality: as the instrument is played over time, the internal vibrations within the wood become increasingly uninhibited, causing the tone to become progressively more open and resonant.
Walnut:
The tonal character of Walnut falls somewhere between that of Mahogany (known for its warmth and tightness) and Rosewood (characterized by deep lows and rich overtones). Overall, Walnut offers a warm, full-bodied, and naturally balanced sound, effectively tempering the overly bright "metallic" edge often associated with steel strings.
